Summer Children Programme

Mg Than Zaw Htay from Pyi Char village, Palaw township of Tanintharyi region was born as congenital without below knee left side. He received prosthesis from HORC in 2005 at the age of 3. Now he has passed the Grade 8 and will attend to Grade 9 in the coming school season.

HORC has established summer children special program in every April and May during summer holidays started from 2010 to provide prosthetic and orthotic service to children not to miss school time. The first batch starts on April after water festival holidays and the second batch starts on the first week of May.

Mg Than Zaw Htay explains “I can go to school easily like other students as I use HORC’s prosthesis. I could help my parents and take care on my younger sister as well. I meet the other children during summer children program we support each other and I feel stronger”. He likes playing cane ball (Chin Lone) and he wants to be a guitarist in the future. Moreover he is grateful to the HORC free services and to the staff members also.
