On May 17th and 18th, 2025, the Myanmar Red Cross Society distributed 21,850,000 kyats cash relief to 437 households affected by the recent earthquake in Southern Shan State. Each household received 50,000 kyats for assisting the recovery. The cash relief operation focused on several villages across various tracts and groups in Pinlaung Township (Nampa, Pinlaunggyi East, Pinlaunggyi West, Zedan, Banphe, Yonwin, Ko Khaung, Rin My Taung, Tin Hter, Kyar Pu, Thaekone), Banka Village group: (Pinkarla, Taung Loi Maung, Banka, Waram, Pin Khun, Yan Kin, Ye Aye, Bu Wa,) Taung Thi Bua village group: (Nang Pan Taung, Nan PAN Mraw, Nan Pan Naung Pin, Nant Pan Lone Pyin, War Li), Htee Paung Village Group: (Htee Na Kaung, Hta Ngo, Htee Paung), and In the Lain Nyar Village Group: (Taung Lay and Lain Nyar and Nampa, Pinlaunggyi East, West, Ze Tan, Ban Phae, Yon Win, Ko Khaung , Rin My Taung, Tin Htet (Ma), Kyar Pu, Thae Kone and in Min Bu village, Min Bu group.
In addition to the financial aid, the Myanmar Red Cross Society also distributed various relief items to total (437) households affected by earthquake. Each household received essential supplies, includes Female and male hygiene kits, hygiene kits, blankets, mosquito nets, tarpaulins, T-shirts for both men and women and kitchen sets. Moreover, (30) bed mattresses were provided to elderly people over the age of 65, and the shelter toolkits materials total (52) items were provided to the houses that had been completely destroyed during the earthquake.
The Myanmar Red Cross Society is continuously working on ground to ensure that the relief supplies donated by people from all over the country is reaching out to the communities affected by the earthquake.
